Biography

Evan Bauer has over 30 years of experience as an executive, consultant, analyst, and software engineer in the architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance of complex information systems and software products for mission-critical applications, primarily in the financial services industry. Evan serves as Vice President and Enterprise Architect for DealerTrack, Inc., a leading on-demand provider of software and information services to the automotive industry.

Previously, Evan served as an adviser to the board of the Open Source Development Lab and was the founding CTO of the Collaborative Software Initiative, an OSDL spin-out that develops new industry-specific open source and community development software projects. He also worked as an independent consultant advising both public and private sector organizations on IT architecture, strategy, best practices, and innovation.

Evan served as CTO at Credit Suisse First Boston, the head of trading and sales architecture at Bankers Trust, and as an industry analyst with both Giga Information Group and the Robert Frances Group. Earlier in his career he worked as a software engineer at Digital Equipment, Control Data, SEED Software, and as an intern and then an investigator on the staff of the Subcommittee on Aviation of the United States Senate.

His publications include over one hundred articles, research notes, and monographs; he has been a guest lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania and New York University as well as a regular presenter at major conferences including Comdex, Waters Congress, CeBIT, LinuxWorld (NY, San Francisco, Seoul), Internet World, Linux End-User Summit, and the CSFB European and Asian Investor's Conferences. He is an alumnus of Wesleyan University and the University of Pennsylvania.

In off hours, Evan shares webmaster duties with his daughter historian Jean Bauer as webmaster for his wife, award-winning and best-selling author Joan Bauer. Evan is an amateur radio operator and can be found on the air as KC2YAY. He has been a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity New York City for over a decade, is a founding member of its Community Builders Society, and now serves as a member of it's Board of Directors. Evan received the Habby Award for outstanding Borough Leadership Committee member in 2008.
